Who is this Piers Morgan?

When Piers Morgan hosted a show on CNN, I generally hated his commentary and disagreed with him on almost everything.  Which is why I find the following article in the daily mail a surprise ... an article where I agree with Piers.  Couple of shocking things:

  • He makes some solid points
  • He clearly does not care for Obama - which I guess when he was it CNN he was contractually obligated to spew out love for the current administration
  • He makes some great golf references
It's worth a read and some additional thought about POTUS and why no one around him seems to like him anymore.  I knew he had fired a number of people, but not nearly as many as stated in the article.

Just for Ali ... err ... retired sorority girl

Friday picture of the day

Yup, it's a bear. I'm impressed by Jeter, but I'm a Red Sox fan so I'm not going to show any pictures of his last at bat in the Bronx.  Take that Yankees fans ... here's a picture of a bear!

Frightening ...

I've heard from friends that work near the US / Mexico border that the fence and security is a joke.  I'm not one to push super right videos, but this one is amazing. Love how the guy dresses up as Bin Laden and wanders from Mexico to the US.

Hey Kids, I"m back ... again

After a few months of another hiatus (call it work, buying a house, dog and marriage) I'm not back into the fold of rambling.  Jed has determined that the world is too much of a disturbing place to not have a weekly / daily commentary about almost nothing or anything.

Today's topic ... Iraq and the lack of leadership.  Not the Iraqi leadership, but the embarrassing idiots that are leading our country into a third world state.  Here are some highlights:
  1. POTUS is failing:  Obama has no idea what he is doing and even his base dislikes him.  In an opinion poll, you figure you have to take 40% out of the mix (20 far left, 20 far right) that will never like him or never dislike him.  Then you have the 60% of normal people left ... in recent opinion polls, Obama is getting 11 - 13% approval ratings on his foreign policy (see latest NBC poll ... yes NBC, not FOX) and 40% overall. Which means he is losing his base and even those on the far left don't like him.  Hilary Clinton is even distancing herself from him and its comical to watch her move at the speed of a Battleship to distance herself.
  2. It's 1963 Part Deux:  Iraqi today is Vietnam 1963.  If you don't believe me, see what Maliki did last night and then Google Ngo Dinh Diem ... yup, he was the president of South Vietnam that was killed in a military coup in 1963 (three weeks before the Kennedy assignation). Ironic how both situations are similar and we have "peaceful" Democratic presidents.
  3. ISIS:  we ought to mobilize everything to stop these people.  They are a blood cut that is thirsty and won't stop and until they are killed.  The fact that we are saying that we won't put troops on the ground is ridiculous and we should stop tipping our hand at what we will and won't do.  I don't want to see more troops in Iraq but who is going to stop these people? And if the Kurds fall, what's next? They will go after Israel and they will go after Iran.  Those kids have nukes and it will turn into a local civil / regional war that we will all regret. Well, a much more escalated war.
  4. Air support: we are using fighters / bombers from above 20K feet to shoot at targets.  No close air support because ISIS has some Stingers. Frustrating ... at least we are going to send some ammo and rifles to the Pershmerga to fight back ISIS. From what I've seen, the Pershmerga are the real heroes.
  5. Vacation time:  Obama is on vacation and sharing pictures of him sitting on calls - dude, your the president and one of the more miserable moments in history is happening and your playing golf. You can no longer blame Bush for anything and you should act presidential.  Your not an executive of some company, your the POTUS and should act like it. No one should be surprised he is dropping in opinion polls because he lacks the ability to
Why don't we hire a mercenary army to go in and start shooting things up? That's what the Russians do. Take off the gloves ... send in people that want to get paid to shoot up bad guys.  It's not popular, but since we've announced that we "aren't going to put boots on the ground" or really use close air support, we should do something.  I'm interested to see how long POTUS will stay asleep at the wheel and continue to watch this disaster unfold.  Fingers crossed bombs from 20K feet and a few extra AKs for the Pershmerga will make a difference.

So long Landon ...

I understand why the Dirty German left Landon off the squad ... but I don't have to happy about it. Landon is an American Football icon and did amazing things for the national team. It's a shame he has to go out this way but we should all remember the great things he did for us ... especially in the last world cup.  Jurgen doesn't understand public opinion and he doesn't need to b/c of his massive contract that goes beyond the 2018 WC. The sad news, Team USA probably won't score a point in the Brazil and they will lose fans that won't come back.  The sport needs to do the little PR things to keep the momentum going ... cutting your national treasure is just poor form.

Anywhoo, a tribute to Landon ... I still get goosebumps watching this video ...
